STUDIO FRIDAY : Proud Artist Of

This weeks Studio Friday (well I'm late, so it's a few days ago) is about being proud of a piece of art that hasn't been in the 'lime light'. For me, I think it's my "Key to my heart" piece, which kicked off my art sales for 2006. It was the first piece that got me out of my shell, to show and sell, and really jump started me for the rest of the year. It hung in an alphabet show and sold quickly, so I am proud of that. I was the letter K in the show....

It's acrylic on stretched canvas. The K is is plexi-glass that I painted (on the reverse side). The heart is paper clay that I formed by hand, then painted, and the key and key hole are metal additions to finish it off.

Studio Friday : Floral Treat

Enjoy this flower for this weeks Studio Friday assignment. I'm trying to work on using my digital camera's settings more effectively. This is a macro shot of a begonia blossom.

Studio Friday : Robots

My favorite robot in my studio is my stereo. It's got 3 cd spots so I can shuffle my favorite discs, and it's got a remote - so I can stay planted at my table and have full controll.

To read about other artist's favorite robots, check out Studio Friday.

Studio Friday : Sounds

These are the sounds I hear in my studio. I wasn't in the mood to photograph and edit all the things that made the sounds so I made this representation, digitaly enhancing one of my own paintings.

OOPS - forgot to mention that this painting is for sale on Etsy (without the blurb of course)
Thanks for the emails encouraging me to toot that - I forget these things, lol.

Today I see...

the rhodies are starting to bloom. Just in time for the Rhody Festival in May. Looks like a perfect spring day - and it would be if my T was home.

Oh and here's the tree that everyone loves from my old studio friday post... in color. It's a wax myrtle - it stays green and leafy all year long. It's a good tree. :)

Studio Friday : Working Hands

This is an altered book page that I'm working on (since the picture was taken - it's been completed). The photo was taken as part of the Studio Friday blog.

Painty fingers - but I'm holding my paintbrush so you can see that I actually use one. I don't know how I get so painty - maybe it's when I see a ripple and smooth it out with my fingers. I love the squishy paint feeling. I was never allowed to finger paint as a kid - I guess I'm getting my fill now.

Studio Friday : Room with a View

This week's Studio Friday topic is 'room with a view'. This what I see out my window. I'm on the second floor. I get to see into the big wax myrtle tree. My "watch" cats love it - they are always chattering at the birds either in the tree or on the telephone/electrical wires and watching the cars go by. They get all jazzed when the UPS truck stops.

Of course just when my crock pot of beeswax is open and ready to go, they jump up and leap over me over my collages to get a better view of those birds - leaving me picking hair off my stuff. All in a days work, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Studio Friday : Comfort

I've finally hooked up with Studio Friday. I've been an admirer for weeks now. This week's topic is comfort. For me, my comfort in the studio is my stash of papers, my jars of paper flowers, my favorite brush, gel medium and clip art. Whenever I'm stumped, I always pull this stuff out to play with - to see what happens. And I just can't live without my hello kitty slippers :)
